Nick Marsman

Regional road contests

Through the youth group he was noticed by the local coach and invited to join the selection. At 13 years old, he was by far the youngest in the selection and proudly displays a list of PR times showing that he is getting faster every year. During this period Nick runs many regional road races up to a maximum of 5 km. After some time he also starts running track races and as a junior he runs his first NK indoor and outdoor in 2014. Culminating in 2015 with a silver at the 1500 meter NK-indoor.

Then comes the step to the seniors. Expectations are high, yet Nick has to work seriously to compete for prizes. But hard training and discipline pays off. Nick breaks through to the seniors in 2019 at the short cross and manages to take multiple podiums and wins. This was followed by a bronze medal in the 800-meter indoor. With this time, Nick unfortunately fell 0.42 sec short of competing at the European Indoor Championships.

A week later Nick manages to take the title at the NK short cross. Nick was noticed by several coaches and went for an interview at Papendal, but eventually chose Team4Mijl in Groningen. The first two years at Team4Mijl are unfortunately marked by injuries. In 2022 and 2023 Nick again becomes Dutch Champion in the short cross.

Steeplechase

During this period, Nick focused more and more on the steeplechase with which he made his debut with orange in 2023 by participating in the European Nations Team Championships in Poland. The same year Nick also became Dutch Champion in the 3000m steeplechase. Nick has recently partnered with Insolution. This means that they support Nick with his career by providing him with the best soles to help him improve his performance. Together with Nick we go for the highest achievable.
