So this means you just get the sole, as you are used to them, but from a different material. And since the printed soles are really tested through and through by LFT / insolution before putting them on the market, we know that the quality is just right!
So by now we have seen many people who have switched back for check-ups and in the meantime I can’t resist bringing this option to your attention again. Because in the past six months we have started carefully and now I am converting more and more people.
People were all given the choice first, of course, because we too understand that if you have something you like, switching to a different material can be quite exciting. Under the motto: “Never change a winning concept”….
But yes, as a podiatrist, we are happy to have a conversation with you about what is better for you. And I must confess that more and more I hear myself saying, “I always give the choice, but in your case I’m inclined to say I’d rather not.”
Reason for switching
The reason is that I see more advantages than the well-known environmental technical ones. The fact is that it definitely gives less waste: With the CAD/CAM soles we always make, there is about 80% waste and with the 3D printed soles it is limited to a small 5%. The old soles are also literally waste when consumed, while the 3D printed soles can be recycled again. For this reason alone, people did give this innovation the benefit of the doubt.
Practice
So now there is a new reason for this: they really do stay firmer, especially around the heel. Particularly with fall prevention now high on the agenda everywhere, for example, this is extra important: after all, if the sole provides even more support and stability, then the chance of falling is also simply lower. But that stability is very important for more people. For example, I recently saw someone back for a checkup who had been suffering from back pain for over 45 years after an accident. This person’s back and leg pain had clearly diminished, even though I had indicated that the new soles would probably not make a difference. I checked several times before I could believe it, but the extra stability really made a difference!
